BOONE, NC – Both teams opened up the Indoor Season on the 300 meter track at the Appalachian State Invitational. The meet featured a total of 12 teams and was a chance to compete before the Holiday Break.
The highlight for the women’s team was a record breaking performance by Gabby Walker (Chattanooga , TN) in the 55 meter dash. Her time of 7.50 seconds eclipsed the old mark of 7.63 held by former standout Beth Harms. Also turning in strong performances in the 55 meter dash were Tandra Landers (Monroe, GA) in 7.72, Sharisse Sutherland (Marietta, GA) in 8.05 and Malaree Wallace (Yonkers, NY) in 8.05. Also off to a strong start in the shot put were Erin Stowe (Cincinnati, OH) and Kelli Elliott (Mill Spring, NC).
The men’s squad also had a strong first meet of the year. They were lead by Richard Clarke (Lookout Mountain, GA) with a throw of 39’ 7” in the shot put.

Both teams will return to action in mid-January with the multi-event team competing at Clemson University and the rest of the team at Liberty University.
