BREVARD, NC – Several members from each of the Mars Hill Track teams competed in a tri-meet on the Brevard College track Saturday afternoon. Also competing were the teams from Lees-McRae and Brevard. The weather was bright and sunny and the times were fast.
For the women Chelsea Daugherty (Summit, NJ) took 2nd place in the 400 meter race in the first outdoor meet of her career. Ashley McCarthy (Clearwater, FL) earned a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter run. Junior Jaime Kuehl ( Downington, PA) also earned a 2nd place finish in the 5,000 meter run. Erin Stowe (Cincinnati, OH) continued her strong season with another 1st place finish in the women’s shot put.
For the men Benny Davis (Morganton, NC) running unattached took 1st place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.74 and 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.01. In the 5,000 meter race Ben Crenshaw (Linville Falls, NC) and Aaron Wells (Candler, NC) took the top two spots. And in the men’s shot put Richard Clarke (Lookout Mountain, GA) earned a 2nd place finish.
Next up is the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet in Blacksburg, VA on Saturday, March 8th. The meet will feature some of the top athletes in the nation and rigorous qualifying standards.
