 MARS HILL, N.C. - Mike Dobre (Pompano Beach, Fla.), a former catcher for the Lions baseball team, is now playing with the Texarkana Gunslingers. The Gunslingers are a professional independent baseball franchise that is a member of the Continental Baseball League.
Dobre played for the Lions in 2008 and 2009 where he was primarily a catcher. In 2008 he hit .467 with 57 runs scored, 35 RBI, 20 stolen bases and 18 doubles. In 2009 Dobre hit .396 with 56 runs scored, 38 RBI, 20 doubles and seven homeruns. Dobre was a second team All-South Atlantic Conference selection in 2008 and in 2009 and was a 2009 first team preseason All-SAC pick. In 2008, Dobre was a second team All-Region selection.
Mars Hill College is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the South Atlantic Conference. The league is comprised of schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
