ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Mars Hill outfielder Brian Williams was named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Position Player of the Week league officials announced Monday. Williams, a 5-10, 195-pound senior from Orlando, Fla., earns this honor for a second time this season.
The Palm Beach Atlantic transfer hit .481 in six games last week with four home runs, 13 RBI, a double and scored eight runs as the Lions went 4-2. Included in that was a 4-1 league record, including a three-game sweep at No. 21 Lenoir-Rhyne. He had a .963 slugging percentage during the week and posted a .533 average against Lenoir-Rhyne, going 8-for-15 with two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored.
Newberry pitcher Thomas Berryhill was named SAC Pitcher of the Week.
The SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week are selected by a vote of the league’s nine sports information directors.
