ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill outfielder Brian Williams was named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week by conference officials Tuesday.
Williams, a 5-10, 195-pound senior from Orlando, Fla., hit .722 in four games last week with 14 RBI, two doubles, a triple and two home runs for the Lions. The Palm Beach Atlantic product went 13-for-18 on the week, including 10-of-13 (.769) in a three-game SAC series at Wingate. He started the week going 3-for-5 with four RBI in a 16-14 loss to No. 23 Anderson. In the second game of the Wingate series, Williams went 5-for-6 with seven RBI, including a triple and two home runs.
Newberry hurler Josh McElwee (Andrews, S.C.) was named Pitcher of the Week.
The SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week are selected by a vote of the league’s nine sports information directors.
