Brendan Storrier led Limestone with five goals and one assist followed by Mike Poerstel and Eric Turner who recorded two goals apiece. James Tuohy played the entire game in the net for the Saints and made 12 saves facing 29 shots.

Jeff Cizdziel (Stafford, Va.) and Danny Farmer (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) led MHC with three goals each. Cizdziel added two assists and four ground balls. He also won 4-8 face-offs. Brent Hann (Fallston, Md.) scored two goals, won 9-14 face-offs and picked up three ground balls. Nick Sigona (Auburn, N.Y.) also played 60 minutes in goal for the Lions and made 13 saves facing 43 shots.

After Cizdziel scored the first goal of the contest, 1:17 into the game, the Saints rallied scoring four unanswered goals to lead 4-1 at the end of the first frame. The second quarter was an exact reversal of the first as the Lions out scored LC 4-1 to send the teams into the locker room knotted at 5-all.

The teams traded goals until the 4:15 mark in the third quarter when Turner put the Saints ahead 8-7 off a pass from Randy Waugh. Limestone would not trail again. With the Saints leading 12-10 with 2:10 left in regulation, Danny Farmer scored on a pass from Eric Benesch (Bloomingdale, Ontario, Canada) to bring the Lions within one point. MHC was unable to muster another goal. Danny Farmer took the Lions' final shot at the buzzer but Tuohy made the save to seal the win.

Limestone out shot MHC, 43-29 and won the ground ball battle, 33-25. MHC was 1-3 on extra man opportunities while the Saints went 1-5.
