Danny FarmerMARS HILL, N.C. - Danny Farmer (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) scored eight goals in the No. 8 Lions 15-14 overtime victory over Seton Hill University Wednesday afternoon in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Farmer's final goal was the most important as he notched the game winner 1:26 into the first overtime period. MHC improved to 2-0 on the season while SHU fell to 2-1 on the year.

Eric Benesch (Bloomingdale, Ontario, Canada) followed Farmer with two goals and three assists while David Hodgins (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) added two goals and the same number of assists. Brent Hann (Fallston, Md.) provided the offense with three assists and a game high 12 ground balls. Jeff Cizdziel (Stafford, Va.) recorded four ground balls in the contest and that that broke the MHC career record (115) in that category. Nick Sigona (Auburn, N.Y.) played all 61:26 in goal for MHC and made 12 saves.

Ben Petchel led SHU with three goals and three assists. Justin Menefee added three goals and one assist. Corey Struss also played the entire game in goal for SHU and made 18 saves.

The Lions jumped out to a 4-3 lead after the first quarter and then won the second frame 3-2 to send the teams into the locker room at the intermission with MHC ahead, 7-5. The third quarter belonged to SHU as the Griffins out scored MHC, 7-2 to enjoy a 12-9 advantage heading into the final stanza. MHC battled back out scoring SHU 5-2 in the last quarter to send the game into overtime.

SHU out shot the Lions, 45-40. MHC won the ground ball battle, 48-26 and won 23-31 face-offs.
