ROCK HILL, S.C. – Nate Lockey (Brantford, Canada) was named to the 2009 SAC All Conference Second Team. The awards were presented Sunday night at Etowah Valley County Club in Etowah, N.C., where the 2009 Food Lion SAC men’s and women’s golf championships are being held.
Lockey led the team in scoring in five of seven events this season. He finished tied for second (LMU Fall Invitational) and tied for third twice (SMC Invitational, Montreat Invitational).
The second team consists of Lockey; Liam Ashby, Carson-Newman; Eric Schmehl, Catawba College; Kent George, Lenoir-Rhyne University; and Campbell from Newberry.
Tusculum College’s Chase Carroll was named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Year and was named the Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete for the third year in a row.
Newberry’s Matthew Campbell was named the SAC’s men’s golf Freshman of the Year.
Newberry’s Brian McCants was named the Men’s Golf Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
Joining Carroll on the Men’s All-Conference First Team are: Grant Carnie, Brevard College; Brad Robinson, Carson-Newman College; Daniel Stanley, Newberry; and Ben Lown, Newberry.
