JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Members of the Mars Hill College Track & Field Teams competed at the prestigious Niswonger Invitational over the weekend. The event drew the top athletes from throughout the nation and is widely regarded as the premier indoor meet in the Southeast. In total, over 1400 athletes from 105 teams participated in the two-day invite.
Sophomore Frankie Waters (Brevard, N.C.) once again posted an impressive finish in the 60 Meter High Hurdles. Waters claimed a spot on the podium with a second place finish in the Men’s University Division with a time of 8.31 seconds. Waters was the top NCAA Division II finisher in the meet.
Distance runners Aaron Thomas, Trey McCain, and Angela Woodward also had great races in their respective races. Thomas (Seminole, Fla.) made his indoor debut at 3000 meters with a time of 9:25.50. McCain (Gilbert, S.C.) established a new indoor personal best at 5000 meters with his time of 16:06.74. Woodward (Gahanna, Ohio) also established a new personal best in the 5000 meters with her time of 19:59.22.
The entire Lions squad will be back in action on Saturday in Lexington, Va., at the VMI Winter Relays.
