KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – It was a special night for the Mars Hill College Men’s Track team at the University of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountain Twilight Meet on Tuesday Night. Sophomore Frankie Waters (Brevard, NC) gave another memorable performance by improving upon his NCAA Division II National Championship qualifying mark. Running in a very competitive field, Waters finished in fourth place in 14.54 seconds. This time will move Waters up to 10th in NCAA Division II. The top 16 performers will be invited to the NCAA Division II National Championships at Angelo State University (TX) from May 21-23.
Sophomore Aaron Thomas (Seminole, FL) also posted an impressive result for the Lions. Thomas placed ninth in the mile with a time of 4:21.23. This time is the fastest ever by a Mars Hill athlete as Thomas continues to show steady improvement throughout the season.
