SAN ANGELO, Texas – Mars Hill College sophomore Frankie Waters (Brevard, N.C.) capped off his season on Friday night with another huge personal best. Competing in the semi-final heats at the NCAA Division II National Championships, Waters flew to a time 14.41 seconds. This time placed him fifth in his heat and ninth overall. The top eight advance to the finals. Waters missed advancing to the finals by just .03 seconds.
The race brings a remarkable season to a close for Waters. Waters became the first athlete in school history to achieve NCAA Championship qualifying marks in two events – the 60 meter hurdles and the 110 meter hurdles. He also became the first athlete in school history to compete at the NCAA Division II National Track & Field Championships. Waters will now enter the 2010 season ranked as the seventh best 110 meter hurdler in NCAA Division II.
