ANDERSON, S.C. -- Abby Martin had a goal and an assist in the final 20 minutes to lead Mars Hill to a 3-1 victory over Anderson University in a non-conference match Wednesday night at Smethers Field.
Mars Hill, 5-4-3 overall, took a 1-0 lead at the 43:10 mark when Frankie Armstrong took a pass from Misha Price and scored on a breakaway.
Anderson, 2-6 overall, tied the match at the 68:24 mark when Katelyn Conover took a pass from Kristin Page and found the upper right corner of the Mars Hill net.
Alicia Blaha scored what proved to be the game winner off an assist from Martin at the 70:00 mark.
Martin scored her goal at 81:27 on a rebound after her first shot was stopped by Anderson goalkeeper Alyssa Stephens.
Becca Sellars made two saves to earn the victory in the net for the Lions. Mars Hill outshot Anderson, 15-5.
The Lions will travel to Carson-Newman on October 4 before hosting Tusculum on October 7 at Meares Stadium. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
