MARS HILL, N.C. - Abby Martin recorded a goal and a assist to lead Mars Hill past King College in women's soccer action Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions improved to 2-1-3 on the season while the Tornados fell to 2-5 on the year.
Alicia Blaha (Rapid City, SD) scored what would prove to be the match winner 10 minutes into the second half on a cross from Martin. The Lions received an insurance goal from Martin at the 66:27 mark to seal the win.
Becca Sellars (Loveland, OH) played the entire match in goal for MHC and made nine saves. Karmin Helton also played the entire match in the net for King and made eight saves. MHC out shot king 17-14 and edged the Tornados in corner kicks, 5-3.
The Lions will host USC Aiken on Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
