GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Lions' women's soccer team tied Nova Southeastern University, 1-1 Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Tusculum College Soccer Classic. Both teams took their season record to 1-0-1.
NSU scored the first goal of the match on a cross from Stephanie Quinones to Shurell Burton. The teams would carry that score into the locker room at the intermission.
Abby Martin (Greer, S.C.) tied the match at 1-all at the 60:34 mark scoring from 15 yards out off a turnover. It was Martin's second goal in the same number of matches played so far this season.
Becca Sellars (Loveland, OH) and Sarah Glass both played the entire contest in goal for their respective teams. Sellars made six saves while Glass made two stops.
NSU out shot MHC, 18-5. NSU also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lions will host Belmont Abbey College in their home opener on September 3 at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Match time is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
