MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' women's soccer team defeated USC Aiken 4-0 Saturday evening at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions improved to 3-1-3 on the year while the Pacers fell to 0-4-1 on the season.
Misha Price (Cary, N.C.) scored the first goal in the match in the 20th minute on a shot from 20 yards out. The teams carried that score into the locker room at the intermission.
Jamila Walker (Somerset, N.J.) connected with Alicia Blaha (Rapid City, S.D.) on a cross at the 50:48 mark to put the Lions ahead, 2-0. Patrice Superville (Chaguanas, Trinidad) scored off a rebound in the 65th minute and then Salem Woody (Apex, N.C.) scored on a through ball by Blaha to end the scoring in the match.
MHC's Becca Sellars (Loveland, Ohio) and Aiken's Nicole Westphal played the entire game in the net for their respective teams. Westphal made 12 saves. MHC out shot the Pacers, 28-1.
MHC will open SAC play at Newberry College on September 17. Game time is set for a 3 p.m. start.
