JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman defeated South Atlantic Conference rival Mars Hill College 2-0, improving to 8-3 overall, with a 3-0 record in the SAC. Mars Hill drops to 5-5-3 overall and 0-3 in the SAC.
Senior Brittany Moore (Lenoir City, Tenn.) found the back of the net twice against Mars Hill. In the 36th minute of the game, Moore drove to the goal and slid the ball past Mars Hill keeper Becca Sellars into the right corner of the net. The Lady Eagles outshot the Lions 11-0 in the first half.
The Lions came out strong in the second half and the Lady Eagles matched them defensively. With 18 minutes left in the game, senior Brittany Moore (Lenoir City, Tenn.) fired a shot in the back of the net off of a cross from sophomore Lydia Wright (Nashville, Tenn.) to make the score 2-0.
Overall Carson-Newman outshot Mars Hill 18-2. Becca Sellars (Loveland, Ohio) made nine saves for the Lions.
