GREENSBORO, N.C. - Over 2,400 runners took part on Saturday in the Greensboro Invitational. Despite terrible weather all day, the Mars Hill cross country teams posted some of the best times of the year.
For the second consecutive week, the men's team won the Division II race and finished third among all three divisions. Kit Powell (Antigo, Wis.) came in second place and led the Lions' squad.
Justin Gragg (Lenoir, N.C.) and Trey McCain (Leesville, S.C.) finished 13th and 16th overall, respectively, in the 8k. Gragg's time was 26:31.8. McCain finished 17.1 seconds behind McCain.
Eric Blackburn (State Road, N.C.), just a freshman, also had an impressive showing. His time was 27:02.3.
For the women's team, Hannah Moore (Franklin, N.C.) led the charge and finished in 39th place overall among Division II runners. She posted a time of 22:02.5. Moore, Rachael Rogers (Clayton, Ga.), Melissa Holloway (Helena, Ala.) and Nadine Hayes (Winston-Salem, N.C.) had their best times of the year each by over a minute.
The Mars Hill cross country teams will run in the UNC Charlotte Invitational on Friday. The races will begin at 4:15 p.m.
