 ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill College's Kit Powell was named the South Atlantic Conference Male Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced.
Powell, a sophomore from Antigo, Wis., was the college division men’s individual champion at the 23rd annual Asics Winthrop Invitational meet held Saturday morning at the Winthrop Farm Course. He posted a time of 26:13.98.
In the college division races, Mars Hill earned the men’s title. The Lions scored a team-low of 23 points. Five Lions finished in the top 10. Mars Hill also topped three Division I schools: Winthrop, Wofford and Presbyterian.
Wingate University's Brittany Vish was named SAC Female Runner of the Week.
Powell joins Justin Gragg (Lenoir, N.C.) as Mars Hill winners of the award during this season.
The Lions will run in the Greensboro Invitational this Saturday. The meet will begin at 9 a.m.
