 NEWTON, N.C. – The Mars Hill College Men’s cross country team won its 13th straight league championship Saturday morning at the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship at Southside Park.
The Lions had three of the top four runners overall and have now won every conference championship dating back to 1997.
 Mars Hill runners on the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team were Kit Powell (Antigo, Wis.), Justin Gragg (Lenoir, N.C.), Trey McCain (Leesville, S.C.) and Aaron Thomas (Seminole, Fla.).
Eric Blackburn (State Road, N.C.) was named to the All-SAC Second Team and All-Freshman team.
Mike Owens was named the 2009 SAC Men’s Cross Country Coach Of The Year. He wins the award for the 14th consecutive year.
