MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's cross country team is ranked fourth in the Southeast Region, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today.
"I thought this season might be somewhat of a rebuilding year considering we lost some great runners from last year, but we've reloaded and the team is doing very well," remarked head coach Mike Owens. "Kit (Powell) is back after missing last season and running especially well as are the rest of the guys on the team."
In the college division races, Mars Hill earned the men’s title at the 23rd annual Asics Winthrop Invitational meet held last Saturday morning at the Winthrop Farm Course. The Lions scored a team-low of 23 points.
Five Lions finished in the top 10. Mars Hill also topped three Division I schools: Winthrop, Wofford and Presbyterian.
Mars Hill will run in the Greensboro Invitational this Saturday. The meet will begin at 9 a.m.
