Rury CaulfieldANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team lost 6-1 to Anderson on Saturday evening at Smethers Field. The Trojans improve to 2-0, while the Lions drop to 0-1-1.

Clement Samson got the Trojans on the board 9:23 into the game when he scored inside the box. Paulo Passini assisted Samson on the goal.

At the 22:25 mark, Anderson increased its lead to 2-0. Rayon Markland took Zach Denson's corner kick and put the ball into the back of the net past Alex Huckabee.

In the 24th and 27th minutes, Passini scored back-to-back goals to give the Trojans a 4-0 advantage. Adrien Miufflet assisted on Passini's first goal. Jorgen Hals registered an assist on Passini's second goal.

Mars Hill cut the deficit to three goals at the 48:03 mark. Rury Caulfield scored his second goal of the season off a penalty kick that went past Benjamin Pepion.

However, the Lions were not able to get any closer and Anderson scored two second half goals to seal the match. Lasse Sohrweide scored at the 56:38 mark. Samson scored his second goal of the match at the 68:11 mark.

Anderson outshot Mars Hill 22-7 in the game. Huckabee made seven saves for the Lions. Pepion and Adrian Osborne each made one save for the Trojans.

Mars Hill will host Lees-McRae on Tuesday at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
