 MARS HILL, N.C. - Jimmy Vandenhurk (Walland, Tenn.) scored from about 25 yards out at the 68:37 mark to lift Lincoln Memorial University to a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill Tuesday night in men's soccer action at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. MHC fell to 5-7-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the SAC while the Railsplitters improved to 10-3-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the league.
MHC edged the Railsplitters in shots, 14-13 and had five more corner kicks (6-1) than LMU. Justin Spencer (Statesville, N.C.) played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made eight saves. Michael Watkins (Statesville, N.C.) also played the entire match in the net for LMU and made three saves.
Mars Hill will host Barton College on Saturday, October 31, in the Lions' annual Senior Day match. The contest will begin at 3 p.m.
