Steven BivensMARS HILL, N.C. - Troy Watson scored at the buzzer in the first overtime period to lift USC Aiken to a 3-2 victory over Mars Hill in men's soccer action Saturday afternoon in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Pacers improved to 3-3 while the Lions fell to 1-5-1 on the year.

Rury Caulfield (Glasgow, Scotland) scored the first goal of the match at the 36:36 mark to give MHC a 1-0 advantage. The goal came off a direct kick. James Chidsey tied the match at 1-all with five minutes left in the first half when he scored off a cross from a direct kick by Alex Lewis. The teams carried that score into the locker room at the intermission.

Friddy Hoegner (Cologne, Germany) put the home team ahead 2-1 at the 44:34 mark on a through ball sent in by Steven Bivens (Douglasville, Ga.). Just over twenty minutes later (66:50) Fernando Gamez tied the contest (2-2) when he found the back of the net from 30 yards out.

MHC out shot the Pacers, 16-11 while USC Aiken edged the Lions in corner kicks, 7-5. Justin Spencer (Statesville, N.C.) played the entire 99:59 in goal for MHC and made one save. Andray Charles also played the entire match in the net for USC Aiken and made three saves.

Mars Hill will play at SAC rival Catawba College on September 23. Game time in Salisbury, N.C., is set for a 7 p.m. start.
