MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team lost its sixth consecutive conference match on Tuesday night which was held at North Buncombe High School. Carson-Newman won the match in three games by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-22.
The Lady Eagles improve to 16-7 overall and 9-3 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Lions fall to 9-14 overall, 2-12 in the SAC.
Katie Troyer (Plain City, Ohio) and Carly Mozgai (Greensboro, N.C.) each had nine kills for Carson-Newman. Defensively, Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) had 27 digs. Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) dished out 19 assists.
Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) sparked the Mars Hill attack with a double-double (11 kills, 14 digs). Sarah Paquette (Swannanoa, N.C.) also netted a double-double with 11 digs and 14 assists. Kelly Koziel (New Carlisle, Ind.) had 18 digs. Laura Ann Huskey (West Henderson, N.C.) recorded 14 digs.
The Lions will step out of conference and travel to Montreat on Thursday. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
