 MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team lost to Catawba in four games Friday night inside Stanford Arena. The Catawba Indians defeated the Lions by scores of 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, and 25-17. Catawba improves to 7-4 overall, 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. Mars Hill drops to 7-3 overall, 1-1 in the SAC.
Shay Meeks (Kings Mountain, N.C.) netted 14 kills for Catawba. Taylor Doss (Boonville, N.C.) had 13 kills. Two Catawba Indians registered double-digit dig totals: Mai Zoua Lo (Hickory, N.C.) with 23 and Kaitlyn Whitmer (Ferrum, Va.) with 10. Megan Courson (Statesville, N.C.) had 32 assists.
The Lions were led by Evie Tafunai's (Edwardsburg, Mich.) 12 kills. Kelsci Flora (Mishawaka, Ind.) had 19 digs and four service aces. Sarah Paquette (Swannanoa, N.C.) dished out 22 assists.
Mars Hill will host Wingate on Saturday afternoon inside Stanford Arena. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
