MARS HILL, N.C. - For the third time this season, the Mars Hill volleyball team defeated North Greenville. The Lions swept the Crusaders by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-22.
The Lions improve to 8-7 overall. The Crusaders fall to 7-15.
Traci Teague (Ramseur, N.C.) and Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) each recorded 11 kills for the Mars Hill offensive attack. Kelsci Flora (Mishawaka, Ind.) chipped in 16 digs. Laura Ann Huskey (West Henderson, N.C.) had 14 digs and three service aces. Sarah Paquette (Swannanoa, N.C.) dished out 25 assists from her setter position.
Charlotte Swain (Woodruff, S.C.) led North Greenville with six kills. Defensively, Kaitlyn Harris (Orlando, Fla.) netted 22 digs. Gabbrielle McKinley (Asheville, N.C.) recorded 20 assists.
The Lions will host Lenoir-Rhyne on October 6 in the "Dig for Cancer" fundraiser to help collect money for the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation. The match inside Stanford Arena will begin at 7 p.m.
