ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team defeated North Greenville, 3-0, in its first match on Saturday of the Anderson Tournament but later in the day lost to West Alabama in three sets. The Lions are now 2-1 on the season.
The Lions defeated the Crusaders by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-21. West Alabama defeated Mars Hill by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17.
Laura Ann Huskey (West Henderson, N.C.) and Doneisha Gartica (Houston, Texas) each had a team-high eight kills for the Lions in the win over North Greenville. Danielle Mason (Westerville, Ohio) and Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) each had seven kills. Kelsci Flora (Mishawaka, Ind.) registered 12 digs, while Huskey had 10 digs.
Against West Alabama, Traci Teague (Ramseur, N.C.) led the Mars Hill offensive attack with seven kills while Tafunai followed up with six kills. Flora tallied 11 digs.
The Lions will host Milligan on Tuesday inside Stanford Arena. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
