ROCK HILL, S.C. - Brittini Young, a native of Ramseur, N.C., who led the South Atlantic Conference last year in scoring (16.6 points per game) and free-throw percentage (.865), was named to the All-Conference second team.
Mars Hill was picked to finish eighth this season in the conference in a poll of the league's head coaches.. The Lions tallied 25 points.
Lenoir-Rhyne University, which last year won both the regular season and Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's basketball tournament titles, is the favorite to win the 2010 championship.
Mars Hill will open the 2009-10 season with an exhibition game at UNC Asheville on November 6 at 7 p.m. The first regular season game will be at Queens on November 18 at 5:30 p.m.
