Abby MartinGREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Davis & Elkins women's soccer team defeated Mars Hill College 4-3 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field. The Senators improve to 1-1, while the Lions fall to 0-2.

Luci Legaspi (Williamsburg, Va.) scored the winning goal for Davis & Elkins. Her goal came off an assist from Meredith Greives (Nottingham, Md.) at the 95:07 mark.

Mars Hill struck first in the match at the 38:54 mark. Abby Martin (Greer, S.C.) put the Lions on the board off an assist from Patrice Superville (Chaguanas, Trinidad). Mars Hill carried its one goal lead into halftime.

The Senators responded in the second half when Megan Beal (Pilesgrove, N.J.) used an assist from Kelsey Billings (Street, Md.) and tied the game at the 60:28 mark. Fourteen minutes later, Cole Dant (Elkton, Md.) got her first goal of the season off an assist from Bonnie Little (Franklinville,N.J.) to put Davis & Elkins ahead 2-1 at the 74:02 mark. Greives pushed the lead to 3-1 at the 76:43 mark when she blasted Alex McCartney's (Pickering, Ontario)cross past Lion goalkeeper Chelsea Parker (Richmond, Va.) into the net.

Patrice SupervilleThe Lions answered at the 82:37 mark when Martin scored her second goal of the match off an assist from Caity Murnahan (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.). Less than a minute later, Superville beat a diving Jackie Krum (Centreville, Va.) to knot the match at 3-3.

Legaspi then made her first career goal a special one when she curled the ball inside the far post off the assist from Greives to give the Senators the win.

Davis & Elkins outshot the Mars Hill 29-10. Parker made eight saves for the Lions. Krum finished the match with five saves for the Senators.

Mars Hill will travel to Belmont Abby on Wednesday. The match will begin at 5 p.m.
