DUE WEST, S.C. - Misha Price scored two goals to lift the Mars Hill women's soccer team over Erskine, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Huggins Field. The Lions ended a five-game losing streak and improve to 2-12 overall. The Flying Fleet drop to 6-7.
"I am proud of the way the team performed," said Price, a native of Cary, N.C., who recorded her first two goals of the season. "I'm glad I could put the finishing touches on a deserved win."
Price scored the first goal of the evening in the 21st minute. She blasted a shot from 25 yards out that deflected off of Paige Martz's (Woodbine, Ga.) hands to give Mars Hill the early lead.
Erskine answered in the 40th minute. Kimrey Angotti-Smith (Goose Creek, S.C.) fed a pass to Lindsay Patterson (Greer, S.C.) who beat Chelsea Parker (Richmond, Va.) from 18 yards out to tie the game.
Price scored the game-winning goal five minutes into the second half. She beat one Flying Fleet defender before knocking the ball in from 15 yards out.
Mars Hill outshot Erskine 16-9. Parker recorded two saves for the Lions. Martz made five saves for the Flying Fleet.
Mars Hill will travel to Brevard on Friday. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
