Mike Dobre

#4 Mike Dobre
Dobre enters his final year with Mars Hill after transferring from Garrett Community College in 2008. In 2008, he had one of the greatest offensive seasons in school history.  Dobre batted .467 with 84 hits, 18 doubles, one homerun, 35 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and only four strike-outs in 180 at-bats.  Defensively, he was voted the Southeast Region Gold Glove Catcher. His .467 batting average was second in the nation.  Dobre finished the year as the toughest to strike out in the country, striking out only once every 45 at-bats.  For these efforts, he was awarded Second-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Region. He received a plaque from the NCAA for being the toughest player to strike out in the country for the 2008 season. With Dobre’s leadership and performance on the field, he has been selected team captain this year.  He is majoring in Physical Education with a concentration in coaching.

Matt Oleski

#6 Matt Oleski
Oleski enters his second year at Mars Hill after transferring from Erie Community College.  As a junior, he had an outstanding year in 2008 while being the everyday right fielder for the Lions and playing in all 51 games.  He batted .316 with a .415 on base percentage and hit five homeruns.  Oleski’s former Erie Community College teammate, Brian Wolf, is a pitcher for the Lions.  He is majoring in Physical Education.

Devin Presnell

#8 Devin Presnell
Last year as a sophomore, Presnell became the everyday shortstop early in the year.  He started 44 games with a .317 batting average and totaled 22 RBIs.  With his tireless work ethic and dedication to the program, he was named a team captain as a junior.  Presnell is majoring in Sports Management.

Brian Williams

#9 Brian Williams
Williams enters his senior year for the Lions.  In 2008, he put up very impressive stats at the plate, batting .402 with 76 hits, the second highest on the team.  He also led the team with 15 homers and 60 RBIs.  Williams has batted in the middle of the lineup for the last two years, and we look for him to do the same this year as well.  He will graduate with a business degree in May.

Greg Smith

#10 Greg Smith
Smith is starting his second year at Mars Hill.  He is a very athletic pitcher that should add depth to the pitching staff.  Smith is a history major.

Dalton Hardee

#12 Dalton Hardee
Hardee enters his second season with the Lions.  As a freshman, he played in nine games and had 24 plate appearances.  Hardee’s major is undecided.

Justin Hall

#16 Justin Hall
Hall enters his third year at Mars Hill.  As a freshman, he earned a weekend spot in the rotation and picked up his biggest win vs. No. 16 West Alabama with a complete game.  As a sophomore, he became the No. 1 starter and picked up five wins in 60.1 innings pitched.  Hall led the staff with 57 strikeouts and posted a 4.03 ERA.  He has been named captain as a junior because of his work ethic and leadership.  Hall is a Physical Education  major with a concentration in coaching.

Joseph Keel

#18 Joseph Keel
Keel enters his third year at Mars Hill College. He was All-Conference in high school and led the conference in RBIs as a senior.  In his two previous seasons with the Lions, Keel has worked out of the bullpen.  Last year, he pitched 23 innings for the Lions in 13 relief appearances.  He is majoring in Sports Management.

Ben Hunt

#22 Ben Hunt
Hunt enters his second year with the Lions. During his high school career, Hunt had a batting average of .350.  He should add depth at the catching position as a sophomore.  Hunt is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Research.

Corry DiBiase

#24 Corry DiBiase
DiBiase is in his second season with the Lions after playing two years at Nova Southeastern University.  He made an immediate impact for the Lions in his first season, hitting .346 on the season and had a school-record 22 doubles.  DiBiase will again hit in the middle of the lineup and is majoring in Business Administration.

Adam Frydman

#25 Adam Frydman
Frydman begins his final year at Mars Hill. In high school Frydman was a three-sport athlete:  basketball, volleyball and baseball.  He was voted team MVP of his baseball team in his senior year.  Frydman is majoring in Physical Education.

Brandon Savoca

#27 Brandon Savoca
Savoca is in his second season with the Lion program after coming from Mount Olive College.  In high school, he was a three time all-conference performer in baseball and basketball.  He was also an all-conference player in football and a member of the National Honor Society.  Last season, Savoca hit .372 with three homeruns and 13 doubles while playing only half the season due to a hand injury.  He is majoring in Business.

Patrick Davidson #28 Patrick Davidson
Davidson enters his third season and is from nearby Owen High.  He participated in the North Carolina State Games in 2005 and batted .439 in 2006 on his way to garnering Team MVP and All-Conference honors in high school.  Davidson is majoring in Physical Education.
Michael Brittian

#29 Michael Brittian
Brittian enters his second season with the Lion program.  In high school, he was an all-conference performer and also was voted Second Team All-Western North Carolina.  He is majoring in Criminal Justice.

Alex Rudnay

#32 Andrew Rudnay
Rudnay enters his third season with the team and was a Second Team All-Region selection at Mercyhurst North East High School.  He has a fastball that reaches the low 90’s.  Rudnay is majoring in Sports Management.

Lee Blalock

#34 Lee Blalock
Blalock enters his senior year for the Lions after transferring from Surry Community College.  After making the transition to being a full time pitcher, he threw in eight games last year.  Blalock is majoring in Physical Education.

Jon Bullington

#4o Jon Bullington
Bullington begins his second year for the Lions after redshirting last year.  He had surgery this fall and will not play this year.  We look for him to be 100 percent in early summer and be a big arm for the team next season.  Bullington is majoring in Physical Education.

Matt Dameron

#41 Matt Dameron
Dameron enters his senior season for the Lions.  As a junior, he had a break out year as a relief pitcher.  He recorded 23.1 innings pitched in 12 appearances and earned a 3-0 record.  Dameron is a Business major.

Thomas White

#42 Thomas White
White enters his second year at Mars Hill. At Dutch Fork High School, he achieved the saves record as a junior.  Last season White was an impact arm for the Lions and spent time in the closer’s role.  He posted 14.2 innings in 16 appearances and also earned three saves.  He is majoring in Criminal Justice.

Curt Bagwell

#43 Curt Bagwell
Bagwell enters his second year with the Lions and is from Greenville High School.  In high school, he was a four year letterman and member of the AAA state championship team in 2005.  He is majoring in Business Administration.

Chad Jarvis

#45 Chad Jarvis
Jarvis enters his second year at Mars Hill after graduating from West Forsyth High School.  In high school, he posted a 19-3 record on the mound and finished with a 2.25 ERA.  He should provide depth to the staff as a starter and reliever.  Jarvis is majoring in Chemistry.

Jason Kennell

#47 Jason Kennell
Kennell enters his final season with the Lions' baseball program.  In the past three seasons, he has appeared in 37 games, seeing most of his action out of the bullpen.  Kennell finished last season with a 4-1 record and a 2.65 ERA.  He will once again be a big part of the Lions’ pitching staff this season.  He is majoring in Physical Education with a concentration in Coaching.

Tyler Stephenson

#51 Tyler Stephenson
Stephenson enters his second year for the Lions.  He redshirted last season due to several injuries. He will play multiple roles on the staff this year. Stephenson is a History major.

Michael Bueker

#1 Michael Bueker
Bueker enters his first year with the Lions after graduating from Chaminade Madonna High School in Florida.  He had an excellent high school career where he batted over .400 and led his team in steals and runs.  He also played with the Florida Pokers during the summer and won the team MVP.  Bueker’s high school teammate, Joey Hone, is a pitcher for the Lions.

Dan Potter

#3 Don Potter
Potter enters his first season with the Mars Hill baseball program after transferring from Herkimer County Community College. He was All Conference in high school and led Herkimer last year in wins and strikeouts.  He was also selected team captain.  Potter is a sports management major. 

Mike Kitt

#5 Mike Kitt
Kitt comes to the Lions as a junior after transferring from Suffolk County Community College.  As a freshman at Suffolk County, he earned Player of the Year, All-Region, and was named an All-American.  As a sophomore, he was named to the Gold Glove Team as well as All-Region. His team also advanced to the World Series in Texas.  Kitt is a Business Administration major.

#11 Tim Liberty
Liberty enters his first year with the Lion baseball team after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps where he completed a combat tour in Iraq.  He graduated from Gibbs High School where he earned First Team All-County his senior year.  Liberty is majoring in Business Administration.

Joey Hone

#14 Joey Hone
Hone enters his first season with the Lions’ program from Chaminade - Madonna High School where he put up impressive stats pitching and hitting.  During his senior year, he was 8-4 with 72 innings pitched and 63 strikeouts.  He batted .323 with five homeruns and 30 RBIs.  His high school teammate, Michael Bueker, plays infield for the Lions.  Hone is a biology major.

Brian Henson

#15 Brian Henson
Henson attended Greer High School where in 2005 he earned All-Region and team MVP.  He is a business administration major.

Brian Wolf

#17 Brian Wolf
Wolf transferred to Mars Hill this year from Erie Community College.  Last year, he was selected First Team All-Region at Erie Community College.  Wolf will see time out of the bullpen and as a starter.  His teammate at Erie Community College, Matt Oleski, also plays for the Lions.  He is majoring in Sports Management.

Kris Torrance

#20 Kris Torrance
Torrance joins the Lions from Garrett College in Maryland.  In 2008, he was selected as a First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Conference player.  In 2007, Torrance was a Region XX All-Tournament Team selection.  Torrance was a teammate of Mike Dobre at Garrett College before becoming a Lion.  He will major in Sports Management.

Tony Hearrell

#30 Tony Hearrell
Hearrell enters his first season with the Mars Hill baseball program.  In high school, he was a four year letterman and captain of his team.  Hearrell’s major is Psychology.

Alex Britt

#31 Alex Britt
Britt enters his first season with the Mars Hill baseball team.  In high school, he was selected as an All-County, All-Conference, and All-Piedmont member.  He was the strikeout leader.  Britt has a tremendous work ethic and should be a quality arm for the Lions over his career.  He is majoring in Physical Therapy.

Rusty Smith

#33 Rusty Smith
Smith enters his first season with the Mars Hill baseball team after transferring from Fredrick Community College.  Last year at Fredrick Community College, he started in 45 games and hit for an average of .270 and had six homeruns.  Smith is a Physical Education major.

Corey Rau

#35 Cory Rau
Rau comes to Mars Hill as a junior from Cecil College in Maryland.  Last year, he posted a 7-1 record and a 2.27 ERA, which was the third lowest in the conference.  Rau is majoring in Physical Education.

Matt Harris

#38 Matt Harris
Harris enters his first season at Mars Hill after graduating from Surry Central High School.  In high school, Harris had an impressive career where he was a two time All-Conference selection.  Harris was also a two time All-District selection.  He is a Sports Management major.
