Teddy GuyerTeddy Guyer enters his fifth season as the Mars Hill head swimming coach. Through his first four seasons for the Lions, Guyer has compiled a 51-4 dual meet record, bringing his career mark to 167 wins and only 40 losses. Guyer brings over 30 years of experience in aquatics and 17 years at the college level.

Guyer has won four Coach of the Year honors, including two as head coach of Mars Hill (2006-07, 2008-09).

In 2008-09, the men's team was 8-0 and the women's team finished 9-0. At the Appalachian Swimming Conference meet, 23 school records were broken and 11 first-place finishes were also achieved by Lion swimmers.

While at Mars Hill, Guyer has coached two Swimmer of the Year award winners, Carson Fackler and Ed Smith. Fackler won Swimmer of the Year in 2008-09. Fackler and Smith tied for the award in 2007-08.

Guyer came to Mars Hill from nearby Warren Wilson College where he served as both the aquatics director and swim coach since 1993.

While at Warren Wilson, Guyer led his 1999-2000 men’s team to an undefeated season including winning the Atlantic States Championship meet. He also received Warren Wilson’s Staff Teaching Excellence Award and the American Red Cross Ellis Fysal Award for excellence in teaching aquatics.

Guyer and his wife Haven have been married for 20 years and have four sons: TC age 18, Colby age 14, Trace age 7 and Lance age 5. The family resides in Bethel, N.C.
