Teddy Guyer is starting his third season as the Lions’ head women’s swimming coach. In his first two season at Mars Hill College the team finished with 8-1 dual meet records, bringing his career mark to 132 wins and only 38 losses. Guyer brings over 25 years of experience in aquatics and 15 years at the college level.
Guyer came to Mars Hill from nearby Warren Wilson College where he served as both the aquatics director and swim coach since 1993. During his coaching career at Warren Wilson, Guyer had an impressive 116-36 overall record in dual meets.
Guyer’s accomplishments include being named a two-time coach of the year at Warren Wilson and led his 1999-2000 men’s team to an undefeated season including winning the Atlantic States Championship meet. He also received Warren Wilson’s Staff Teaching Excellence Award and the American Red Cross Ellis Fysal Award for excellence in teaching aquatics.
Guyer and his wife Haven have been married for 18 years and have four sons, TC age 16, Colby age 12, Trace age 5 and Lance age 3. The family resides in Bethel, NC.
